The whole ‘Nico Haupt aka Ewing2001′ thing is pretty odd. In the space of a few months in early 2005, someone posted some very, very good material under the Ewing2001 alias.

Then nothing. Then in November, the site suddenly prominently displays links to Nico Haupt, but little new material is posted. Ewing2001 becomes ‘Nico Haupt aka Ewing2001′
To me, it’s pretty obvious what happened: the site got hacked and was handed over to, or used to promote, Nico Haupt.
This achieved two things: it handed Haupt Ewing2001′s well-earned credibility. Second, it discredited the excellent work of Team 8+ by association with Nico Haupt.
My only question is: what happened to the real Ewing2001? Why wasn’t he screaming blue bloody murder that his site was hacked and his identity stolen?
Pretty sinister.
